Combined service held

Members of various Christian denominations recently came together for worship and fellowship at a Millicent church.

The Millicent Christian Ministers Association held the combined church service at the Millicent Baptist Church and most denominations were represented.

As a coincidence, it was the third ecumenical event to be hosted by the Baptists within the space of a month.

The others were the quarterly Men’s Breakfast and the annual World Day of Prayer.

The latest service was led by church member Julia Whennan while Pastor Simun Lalich gave the address to the 60-strong congregation.

Liz Groom provided the keyboard accompaniment for the four hymns.

Pastor Shaun Mulick, of the Millicent Community Church, provided an update on such combined churches initiatives like the open-air Christmas picnic and the distribution of a record 280 Christmas hampers.

At the conclusion of the hour-long service, afternoon tea was served.

Combined services on a roster basis have been a regular occurrence for more than 30 years amongst all the Millicent churches as worshippers gather together whenever there is a fifth Sunday in the month.
