Confidence builds with tough win

Gambier Centrals took on Apollo at MGA Park on Friday night under lights with Centrals coming away with a crucial win.

Both sides were competitive in the first half with no early goals, but that changed half way through the stanza when Centrals’ Sam Shoemark scored the opener to give the home team the lead.

Apollo applied the pressure in a bid to slow Centrals down for most of the remaining time in the first half.

However Centrals’ relentless pressure prompted Apollo to make some errors which resulted in another goal with Shoemark scoring his second and giving Centrals a two goal lead at half
 time.

Apollo took to the pitch in the second half determined to work their way back into the game.

However Centrals’ defence was too much as they held strong to keep Apollo goalless and retained a clean sheet in the important win.

With this win Centrals will have a chance to finish second on the ladder as they face Blue Lake next week. Centrals defeated Apollo 2-0.
