Council celebrates young achievers

The winners of Wattle Range Council’s 2021 youth awards and design competition have recently been announced. A sense of achievement, gratitude and goodwill filled the room at the Youth Awards Presentation Night in the Millicent Gallery.

Council was very excited to announce the winners of the annual Youth Recognition Awards and Waterways Sign Design Competition held as part of Youth Week. The guest speaker for the evening was Sam Dwyer of Dwyer’s Boxing Club who shared his journey as a professional boxer, accountant and setting up the boxing club.

This is the second year the Wattle Range Council youth sign design competition has been held, with last year’s winning design by Louise Stanley being installed in Southend. This year the focus was protection of all of the region’s waterways with the scope broadened to encompass not only the coast, but also lakes & creeks.

Sign design entries can be viewed at the Millicent Library and the 2021 winner is Kangaroo Inn Area School. 2021 Wattle Range Council Youth Recognition Award recipients are:
