Council moves to get selfish dog owners off ovals

Wattle Range Council is hoping to assign designated dog off-leash areas after numerous complaints from sporting clubs about animal waste being left on
ovals.

After consideration of a staff report, the council voted to consult with the community on eight sites this year with the majority being located next to sporting grounds.

Most of the proposed areas are already used as dog off-leash areas by local residents and clear guidelines are set to be established.

Meanwhile, work continues on a fenced dog exercise park located on the former Millicent Hospital Oval behind the Millicent Visitor Information Centre.
