The shabby state of the façade of the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre has been brought to the attention of Wattle Range Council.
Corcoran ward councillor John Drew referred to the deterioration of the pebble sheets above the entrance doors which face Ridge Terrace.
He raised the matter of the 54-year-old building at the September monthly meeting of Wattle Range Council.
In reply, engineering services director Peter Halton said the pebble panels would receive attention following the completion of the impending major roof project.
Cr Drew was vocal on a range of matters over the course of the three-hour meeting.
He urged the council to host road inspectors if they were appointed by the State Government and reported on his attendance at the opening of the ac.care community garden and the annual general meeting of Millicent community radio station 5THE FM.
After the financial statements were tabled, Cr Drew said “debt is not a bad thing”.
He asked if all community and sporting clubs seeking grants had provided financial statements and was assured they had.
Cr Drew called for a street light to be erected at the T-junction of Academy Drive and Cattle Bridge Road in Millicent and wants the Local Government Association to review its mandatory training for councillors.
Cr Drew opposed sending a letter of support for a Mount Gambier aged care facility project and sought a staff report on anti-littering measures.
