Country class on full display in big league

The Limestone Coast is well represented in the AFL with plenty of home-grown players starring on the national stage.

The SE Voice’s sports journo Will Boston takes a look at how our locals fared in Round 15.

Jeremy Cameron

Jeremy Cameron had a solid game on a tough night for the Cats with 16 disposals, five marks and three goals in the big loss to the Blues.

Cameron’s goal accuracy was not the best on Friday night as he had three points with his three goals.

A positive sight was that Jezza had two goal assists and 10 score involvements.

In the forward line Cameron was a major target for the Cats as three of his five marks were inside the 50.

This week Cameron and the Cats have a tough game against the Bombers on Saturday night at the G.

Brad Close

Brad Close had a quiet game on Friday night against the Blues, finishing with 12 disposals, three marks and a goal. In the forward line Close was not his usual best as he only had three score involvements. The former Northie will have to forget about this game as he now has to focus on the Cats’ game against the Bombers on Saturday night.

Lachie Neale

Lachie Neale had a huge game against the Power on Saturday afternoon with 37 disposals, seven marks, six tackles and 10 clearances in the big win over the power.

Neale played a big role in the team’s success in the game as he had two goal assists, 11 score involvements and three score launches.

The Kid from Kyby was good with the footy as he had a season high 89.2% disposal efficiency.

Showing that his ball skills are not limited to the footy field, he was also seen juggling in the changerooms prior to the match.

Tomorrow night the Lions take on the Dees at the Gabba.

Tom McDonald

Tom McDonald had a solid game against the Roos on Saturday night, registering 11 disposals, six marks and a goal in the close win.

Defensively McDonald was once again great as he had seven spoils.

This week the Dees have a really tough game as they play the Lions at the Gabba tomorrow night.

Toby Pink
Toby Pink did not have the best game on Saturday night as he was subbed off in the third quarter.

Pink had six disposals, two marks and a tackle in the tough loss.

He did have a shot at goal but could not convert it while also being involved in a goal.

After being subbed off in this game it will be interesting to see if Pink will make the team this week as the Roos take on the Doggies at Marvel.

Mason Redman

Mason Redman had a pretty good game on Sunday against the Eagles.

Redman had 22 disposals, 10 marks and two tackles in the win.

Red Dog played a big role in the team’s scoring as he had six score involvements and two score launches, while also proving rock solid in defence with two intercept marks.

The Bombers have a tough matchup this week as they play the Cats on Saturday night at the G.
