The colour pink was the fashion colour for 44 ladies last week at the Mount Gambier Golf Course.
The ladies played a three person stableford pink ball competition, sponsored by Redgum Country, Bare Necessities and Bunnings, and money raised went to the Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser.
The weather once again was very, very windy with pin placement in difficult positions although the fairways and greens were immaculate.
Winning the day in first place was the team of Helen Heaver, Carol Davis and Bev Pedlar with a great score of 73 points.
The team’s split for the two nines was 37/36=73 points, and worthy of mention was the birdie on the 12th par 3 hole by Carol.
In all the combination played very steady golf.
Two points behind in second place was the trio of Penne Saffin, Heather Barry and Bernie Jennings with a split of 35/36=71 points.
The three women combined really well together and played consistent golf.
Di O’Donnell (handicap 22) had the best score of the day with 37 points -18/19 points and received a ball for her effort.
Speciality prizes went to pro shot winner on the eighth par 3 hole Mary Kentish, second shot to the par 3, sixth hole in A Grade Di O’Donnell, B Grade Andrea Pegler and C Grade Heather Chapman.
The windy conditions continued for Saturday’s par round sponsored by SE Pine Sales, with 20 ladies taking to the course.
Winning the competition easily was Deb Fowler (handicap 33) with a lovely score of 4 up, with a split for the two nines consistently 2up/2up=4 up.
The handicapper will be adjusting Fowler’s handicap before her next game.
In second placing was Jill Johnson (handicap 32) with 1 up – 1 down on the front nine and 2 up on the difficult back nine.
Johnson played a consistent game and had four wins on the back nine.
Three balls were handed out in the ball run-down and went to Bev Pedlar, Jennifer Van Ritjhoven and Helen Gregor.
The pro shot was won by Bernie Jennins and nearest the pin went to Janina Morrison.
