Two local cricketers represented the South Australian Country Outbacks in the Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships in Adelaide earlier this month.
In the men’s side North Sportsmans’ Nick McInerney and Elliott Fisher represented SA, playing nine games with a mix of them being T20s and one dayers against other states.
The side finished second on the ladder for the carnival with a record of 5-4.
Going into the carnival Fisher said he was not sure if he was going to make the team.
“I was not sure if I was expecting it but I trialled really well,” he said.
Fisher was pleased with how the side played during the week and was happy they finished second on the ladder.
“To come second overall I thought was pretty good, especially winning that amount of games because I think we won four in a row so that was pretty good,” he said.
Fisher said the opportunity to play on Adelaide Oval was a great experience.
“We were lucky enough to get a game on there through Queensland country cricket and SACA country cricket,” he said.
“It was awesome to play on the ground and is something I will probably never do again.”
Fisher’s highlight of the week was the final game where the Outbacks were able to come away with a win.
“In the last game we were 5/38 and it looked like we were going to lose chasing 200,” he said.
“But someone came out on our side and made 100 to win us the game.”
