There is no other place to be on Australia Day than Borderline Speedway for the 29th running of the Kings Challenge – and with a record 70 sprintcars nominated racing will be fast and furious.
Borderline Speedway will play host to some of America’s best drivers in Sheldon Haudenschild, Cory Eliason, Chase Randell, Justin Sanders, Brock Zearfoss, Tyler Courtney, Carson Macedo and Cole Macedo.
The calibre of these drivers will be impressive as they chase the title of 2023 Kings Challenge winner.
However, our Aussie drivers are standing in the way and will be doing their best to keep the prize on home soil.
Last year’s winner James McFadden will be looking to go back-to-back for the win, but will come up against some stiff competition and have his work cut out for him.
Some of the other drivers with one eye on the prize are Queenslander Lochie McHugh who always runs the highline of the bullring and has been in great driving form of late.
Others to watch out for will be locals Steven Lines, Glen Sutherland and Scott Enderl who also perform to the top level on their home track, along with Brock Hallett, Lisa Walker, Luke Dillon and Ryan Jones.
In a special highlight V8 supercar driver Cam Waters will make a trip to the Blue Lake city to compete.
It is anyone’s guess who will be king at the end of the night and racers will need every bit of luck to come their way through the time trials and the heat races to secure that place in the final feature of the night.
Hopefully, Mother Nature will play nice and put on a ripper of a day for race fans to come out and watch the racing at one of the most spectacular tracks in the country – Borderline Speedway.
In support of the Sprintcars will be the Wingless Sprints and these can also put on some great racing.
It will be the SA v VIC State of Origin and they will be keen to put on a show for the fans.
Some of the locals in this class to look out for will be Mitchell Broome, Kirby Hellyer and Rory Button who all have done countless laps around the 372 metre bullring and will be out to take the bragging rights over the Victorians.
Action will get under way at 5pm with spectator gates to open at 3pm
