Date set for Beachport crayfish festival

A weekend in early-2022 has been earmarked for the inaugural Beachport Crayfish Festival.

Wattle Range Council has set aside seed funding for the event from March 4-6.

It has won the support of key community groups at Beachport.

The event will showcase the best of the rock lobster industry within the Limestone Coast region.

A range of locally made food and wines will be incorporated within a program filled with art, music and children’s activities.

A high point of the weekend will be a formal crayfish ball.

Around two decades ago, the Beachport Festival By The Sea was a popular annual drawcard.

It culminated in 2000 with a free outdoors evening concert alongside the Beachport jetty by 60 members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
