The decades-long tradition of new arrivals working in the region’s forests has recently been evident at Beachport.
Red Cross Limestone Coast regional services manager David Walshaw said the humanitarian organisation had received Federal Government funding to place new arrivals into local jobs through an intensive job ready program.
“Last week we placed 10 workers at Woakwine Forests for a three-week period to reduce feral weeds in their plantation with a possibility of some ongoing work,” Mr Walshaw said.
Employers looking for a job ready workforce are encouraged to contact the Mount Gambier Red Cross branch for more information.
