Demons and Roosters clash in seaside battle

The headline clash of the Bendigo Bank Mid South Eastern Netball Association action this weekend will be the battle of the seasiders between Port MacDonnell and Robe.

Both teams had tough encounters in their last matches, but the Roosters will be confident after taking the points last time.

Robe goalies Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas are in great form and will test the Demons defensive duo of Morgan Amy and Lisa McGregor.

The mid-court battle will be a good one with Michelle Moore and Jess Trench for the Demons up against Keryn Moore and Asha Petitt.

The Roosters coach Kimberly Austin would be happy with how competitive her team has been given the amount of injuries they suffered at the start of the season.

The Demons’ season has not gone as they would have liked, but have remained competitive and will struggle to topple Robe.

KALANGADOO v KONGORONG

The undefeated Kalangadoo welcomes the winless Kongorong to its nest.

The Hawks have not had much joy, but Tilah Buckingham has provided a target in goals since taking over the player-coach role.

Emily Lightbody returned to the side on Saturday and was in the best players, proving how important she is to the young, inexperienced Hawks.

Kalangadoo has been outstanding all over the court with Melissa Russell and Abbey Duncan particularly impressive.

The Magpies have not been afraid to use their juniors either and Kori Collins and Sophie Wrightson have made regular appearances.

Kalangadoo should be way too strong and experienced for the Hawks.

MOUNT BURR v HATHERLEIGH

Mount Burr and Hatherleigh hope to carry their winning form into this Saturday’s clash at Mick and Jean Walker Oval.

The Mozzies’ defensive duo of Heidi Clark and Madi Haggett are one of the most polished in the league.

Waiting for them will be the Eagles’ Keston Green and Lacey Haines who have been impressive together since the former’s return from injury.

There will be plenty of talent on show in the mid-court with Tegan Merrett and Sarah Faulkner in great form for the Eagles, while Laura Schultz and Ava Smith-Muhovics give the Mozzies plenty of drive through the middle.

Expect another close game and great spectacle.

TANTANOOLA v NANGWARRY

It must feel like forever since Tantanoola last hit the court, having a bye and two COVID interrupted, so the Tigers will have fresh legs against Nangwarry this Saturday.

The Saints have lost defender Hayley Vanderhorst for the remainder of the season, which vaults Jemma Parsons into the GK position.

Parsons will combine with the tenacious Carly Ploenges and the pair needs to be at its best to stop Emma Gould and Jami Walker, who run a tight ship in Tantanoola’s attack line.

Cassie Dinnison and Ange Pratt have given their all in the goal circle for the Saints during the year and they will come up against the Tiger defence combo of Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe. The height of Rowe and the clever play from Bromley makes them a tough combination to beat. Tantanoola will be keen for a big win and should be too strong for the Saints.

Glencoe has the bye.
