Demons made it three Mount Gambier softball premierships in a row with a resounding victory over Warriors Blue at Blue Lake Sports Park on Saturday. Warriors won the toss and elected to field first, a decision the side may have regretted when Demons hit the scoreboard immediately.
A leadoff single from Mackenzie Millard became two runs after Isabella Morale smashed an in the park home run past centre field. This was followed by three more runs with two RBI’s to Sharna Beck.
Warriors were able to score leadoff Nicole Vause thanks to a safe hit from Bec White in the bottom of the first, but this was the only run allowed for the game by pitcher Montanna Millard, who had the batter’s measure all day.
A Sacrifice fly from Cody Manning and a double from Hayley Burner scored two more in the second for Demons and they added on in the third thanks to doubles from Morale and Manning.
The blue and red team then added four in the fourth on five safe hits including a double from Morale, bringing her tally to three hits for the day. In the end it was all over quickly, with Demons reaching the mercy rule after just four innings winning 14-1.
MVP for the match was Isabella Morale, who batted and fielded in outstanding fashion.
