Mount Gambier City Council held three community Q&A sessions regarding the Community and Recreation Hub project in late September.

Mayor Lynette Martin, CEO Andrew Meddle and councillors Frank Morello and Sonya Mezinec discussed the project in further detail with 24 people, while councillors Ben Hood and Steven Perryman also joined the Tuesday session.

Acting CEO Barbara Cernovskis said the smaller sessions enabled community members to learn more about the largest ever infrastructure project council had ever undertaken, in line with council’s COVID safe plan.

“The sessions are not designed to be a public forum. We want people to understand the process that council has undertaken to move this project forward in the past year, so we provide a brief presentation and encourage attendees to participate in a free and frank exchange of comments, questions and answers.

“We haven’t seen an overwhelming demand of people wanting to attend, but council will continue to host sessions over the coming weeks for interested community members.”

Ms Cernovskis said the sessions would be driven by demand, with registration required for COVID-19 contact tracing purposes in line with SA Health guidelines.
