District clubs in line to receive cash grants

Football clubs at Glencoe and Mount Burr will receive cash grants if a staff recommendation is endorsed when Wattle Range Council holds its September monthly meeting in Millicent tonight.

The Mount Burr United Football Club is in line to receive $50,000 to establish four new 25-metre light towers at Mick and Jean Walker Oval.

The Glencoe Murphies intend to spend over $4500 on new guernseys with the staff-recommended grant amounting to $2000.

Councillors have been asked to authorise other small-scale grants to local clubs as well as two other major projects.

The Millicent and District International Basketball Association Inc is recommended to receive $40,000 from Wattle Range Council towards the construction of a viewing clubroom to allow viewing to all three courts at its Peter Seebohm Stadium.

If the green light is given, the Lions Club of Millicent will receive $20,000 to extend its existing Fifth Street facility to include more storage, enlarged meeting/dining/function room, relocation and upgrading of toilet facilities and altered kitchen area.

The staff report states the reasons why some applications were not endorsed.
