You never know who you might see manning the renowned donut van on the Beachport foreshore.
The van is an initiative of the Lions club of Beachport and Rivoli Bay and just donuts and cool drinks are on the menu.
Club members roll up their sleeves to generate funds for community projects with extra volunteers eagerly sought each summer and warmly welcomed.
Among those to answer the call was Member for Barker Tony Pasin.
He is regularly seen at dozens of sporting venues over winter either selling beer or cooking the barbecue.
His voluntary efforts are always appreciated wherever he goes.
“I was pleased to volunteer in the Lions donut van on a recent Sunday, supporting a great cause and having fun while doing it,” Mr Pasin said.
“It’s a fantastic initiative that contributes so much to the local Beachport community.
“I commend the Beachport Rivoli Bay Lions Club and their volunteers.
“It’s not only raising funds but contributing to the community spirit of a remarkable coastal town.”
The Lions van has been doing a brisk trade from its customary position near the foreshore war memorials since Boxing Day.
The Lions Club of Beachport and Rivoli Bay has operated the van each summer since about 1992.
Feeding the Vacswim participants as well as Market Day are always the busiest times.
As well as the delicious aroma, the van stands out as it was professionally re-painted by signwriters two years ago.
It will trade on every remaining day of the summer school holidays from mid-morning to late-afternoon.
