Double chance up for grabs

Senior men

Blue Lake v Gambier Centrals

Gambier Centrals will take on Blue Lake on Sunday at Malseed Park as Round 15 of the Barry Maney Group Limestone Coast Premier League Senior Men’s action gets under way and there will be a lot at stake in this game as the winner will finish second on the ladder as well as securing the double chance opportunity.

In the two games these sides have played this season they have both ended in a result of 3-2 with Centrals claiming the three points in both contests.

This year these clubs have had very similar seasons as they sit with the same wins with Blue Lake one spot ahead with one more point.

Centrals have been on a roll over the past couple of weeks and have found some good form late in the season.

Blue Lake should be well rested after having the bye last week, however they suffered a tough loss to Inter in the prior week which they will be looking to bounce back from.

Apollo v Naracoorte United

Naracoorte United will head to the Mount on Sunday to take on Apollo.

These sides have played twice this year with Apollo winning both times despite the competitive play from Naracoorte.

Neither of these sides have a lot to play for as Apollo have fourth spot on the ladder locked in whereas Naracoorte cannot make finals.

One bit of motivation Naracoorte will have in this game is that this is their last chance of getting a win.

Apollo will be using this game to get back on track after dropping points in three of their last four games.

Apollo are coming off a tough loss to Centrals last Friday night which jumped them into fourth place.

Senior Women

Blue Lake v Gambier Centrals

Gambier Centrals will take on Blue Lake this Saturday in the Barry Maney Group Limestone Coast Premier League at Malseed Park, with this season’s results split one apiece.

Those games were highly competitive with the result in both being 3-2.

Both sides have found good form heading into finals with Centrals winning two games in a row.

Blue Lake has been strong with only had one loss in the last five weeks.

Centrals should be full of confidence after beating the previously undefeated Apollo on Friday night in a thrilling win.

Centrals coach Wanita Robinson expects this game to be tough with a couple of outs in her team.

“I know we have a few players out that I would like to have in but I reckon it will be a close game,” she said.

International v Millicent United

Millicent United will head to Casadio Park on Sunday to take on International.

Millicent claimed the three points the last time these sides met, with both sharing them in the first meeting.

Inter have not had the best season this year as they will miss out on finals but they have been playing satisfactorily over the past five weeks, winning twice in that period.

Millicent on the other hand have been rolling as they have only lost once in the last five games.

Millicent will be looking to get the three points in this game as that will give them a shot at finishing in the top two if Blue Lake loses to Centrals.

Apollo v Naracoorte United

Naracoorte will come to town on Sunday to take on Apollo, with the hosts having taken care of business in both meetings this season, scoring 10 goals in both games.

Naracoorte have struggled this season as they still have not won a game with this being their last chance.

This could be the motivation they need to get the upset win after seeing that Centrals could get the win over Apollo last week.

Apollo on the other hand have only suffered one loss this season which came last Friday night to Centrals.

Apollo will be looking to get back on track in this game and fix up the issues which caused them to lose the last game as they head into the finals as the number one team in the competition.
