A Mount Gambier man was caught speeding and drink driving over the weekend.
About 8.30pm on Saturday a Highway Patrol spotted a Toyota utility travelling at 159kph in the 110kph zone on Riddoch Highway at Mil Lel.
The 35-year-old driver was breath tested and provided a positive reading of 0.143.
He was reported for excessive speed and drink driving.
The man lost his licence immediately for six months and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Meanwhile, following a recent spate of hoon driving in the Mount Gambier area, Limestone Coast Police want to remind the public to report hoon driving or antisocial behaviour to police.
“Police encourage anyone who witnesses hoon driving to report any incidents at the time on the traffic watch hotline on 131 444,” a SAPOL spokesperson said.
“Details such as descriptions of vehicles, registrations (if any), description of the driver, and any addresses they attend or appear to frequent will assist the investigation.
“All road users need to know they can be filmed anywhere, anytime – which dramatically increases the chances of being caught.
“Vision whether captured by CCTV, a dashcam or any other source can provide valuable evidence to police.”
