Driver reported over rural crash

Millicent Police, acting on information from the public, have reported a driver who allegedly caused significant damage to a guard rail after crashing into it at Rendelsham. Police will allege at around 5.30pm on June 19, a maroon-coloured car collided with a guard rail on Carthew Road near the Hatherleigh Drain.

The vehicle then left the area but not before causing significant damage. The impact nearly resulted in the vehicle breaking through the guard rail and falling several metres below into the water. Millicent Police last week reported the driver, a 27-year-old man from Rendelsham, for driving without due care and failing to report a crash.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date. The maroon Subaru sedan was located hidden at a Rendelsham property. Limestone Coast Local Service Area officer in charge Superintendent Phil Hoff spoke out about the incident. “This incident is a prime example of how close dangerous drivers can come to causing serious injury or death to themselves and other road users,” he said.

“Police urge members of the public to report any poor behaviour on local roads via the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.” “Millicent Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.”
