Dynamic guard’s service secured

The Castec Rural Supplies Mount Gambier Pioneers has signed Joe Palmer, a dynamic 6’4” guard-forward known for his high-energy play and versatility.

Palmer started his college career at Augsburg University, where he was named an NCAA Division III All-American, averaging 22 points, nine rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

He later transferred to Colorado State University, embracing a new role and becoming a fan favorite for his defensive intensity and energy, earning the nickname “Headband Joe”.

Turning pro, Palmer played in Serbia’s top league with KK Vrsac Swisslion, averaging 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists per game.

Head Coach Richard Hill said Palmer would be a great addition to his talented side.

“I was looking for a bigger guy to fill our last roster spot, but I could not look past the qualities that Joe has brought to all of his teams,” Hill said.

“I expect him to have a huge impact for us.

“Joe will be able to score the ball in a variety of ways, but his toughness and versatility on defence are what will set him apart.”

Palmer, along with fellow import Kaden Archie, arrives this Saturday.

Fans can see them in action at the Millicent Tournament from February 28 to March 2.
