Eagles keen to claw out win on home turf

Penola v South Gambier

Penola is set to play its first home game of the season in the Zema Estate Barber Shield as it hosts South Gambier.

After two weeks of no Barber Shield cricket the sides will be keen to get back out on to the oval in this one day match.

Both teams will be out for a win they can take into the Christmas break.

Penola sit in a good position in second place while the Dees just make it into the top four.

A win for both teams will help hold their spots in the top four.

Heading into this match the Dees have not been in the best form as they failed to score a century last match.

Penola on the other hand have been playing well in both the Barber Shield and the T20 comp.

These sides only met two weeks ago and it was their last Barber Shield action.

Penola dominated in the match, scoring 252 runs in an innings while the Dees struggled.

South will be looking to slow down the man who did most of the damage last match in Jack Mullan.

Mullan had a big game scoring 127 runs.

With this game being played in Penola the Eagles will look to get off to a good start on their home deck.

North Sportsmans v East Gambier

North Sportsmans and East Gambier will face off on Saturday at Marist Park.

Heading into this match the Tigers currently sit atop the ladder with one loss to their name, while the Doggies are down in fifth with only two wins.

Last time these sides played the Tigers got the better of East, after a big innings with the bat as well as a solid innings with the ball.

East will need to do a much better job at slowing down the North batters as in their last match they allowed seven players to score in double digits with four of them being 20 and over.

Despite the tough loss East still had a few bright spots to build off including young Evan Clark who had a solid innings with the ball.

North have got a lot of players who have found some good form across the Barber Shield and T20 such as Elliott Fisher who has been stacking up great games with the bat.

Isaac Mulraney has been very good lately with ball in hand and has been a reliable wicket taker for the Tigers across many matches.

After a tough loss to the Tigers where they only scored 26 runs in an innings the Doggies will be hungry to get back on the field.

Mil Lel v West Gambier

Mil Lel will face West Gambier at Frew Park.

The last Barber Shield game these sides played was against each other in round five.

The Roos got the win over Mil Lel in a hard fought match.

Both sides will be in need of a win before the Christmas break as Mil Lel currently sit on the bottom of the ladder while West sits third.

Heading into this game the Roos have been in great form, winning both their T20 games so far and also winning three shield matches in a row.

Mil Lel on the other hand have been a bit inconsistent as they have had some great wins this season as well as some tough losses.

In this one dayer match Mil Lel will need players like Will Rowland and Jarrod Sanders to step up with the bat while the Roos will look to Sam Willis and Sam Hunt to have another great performance with the ball.
