This week’s Mid South East Netball Association action features a slew of top level match ups, with the outcomes of several games up for grabs.
The match of the round will be the top of the table clash between Kalangadoo and Glencoe.
The Pies will host the Murphies on Saturday in what should be a thrilling contest between first and second on the ladder.
While on paper the other games look to be foregone conclusions, there could be some tight tussles based on the results of their first round matches.
Kalangadoo v Glencoe
Reigning premiers Kalangadoo will host Glencoe on Saturday, with the Murphies on a mission to inflict the Pies’ second loss of the season.
So far this year Tantanoola has been the only side to lower the Maggies’ colours, downing the ladder leaders by six in the first half of the season.
That effort was not replicated last week during their second meeting, with the Pies easily accounting for the Tigers.
Last time the Pies and the Murphies met the Maggies proved too strong, taking a 14 goal win.
With Kalangadoo coming off a confidence boosting win over Tant last week the Pies should feel comfortable heading into this match, but the doggedness of Glencoe should never be underestimated.
The Murphies are riding high also coming off a good win, having defeated Kongorong 77-31.
Technically Glencoe has also only dropped the one match for the year, while ending another with a draw to sit just one win behind the Pies on the ladder.
This match should go the way of Kalangadoo, but the Murphies will not let them have it easily.
Port MacDonnell v Robe
The match between the seasiders is shaping to be a solid contest, with Robe sitting fourth on the ladder and the Bay in sixth.
Only a single goal separated these sides last time they met, with the Roosters taking the win 38-37.
Both sides are coming off solid wins last week, where Robe clinched a strong win over Nangwarry, taking the game 77-18, while Port MacDonnell comprehensively downed Hatherleigh 48-29.
This match will be a genuinely tight tussle, and neither side should find any difficulty arising from typical seaside wind conditions that trouble other visiting clubs.
The Roosters should take the win in what will be a match that features exceptional mid court pressure.
Mount Burr v Hatherleigh
The Mozzies will be looking to use their home court advantage when they host the Eagles on Saturday.
Mount Burr currently sits fifth on the ladder, with Hatherleigh in seventh, but this match certainly will not be a gimme for the hosts.
Last time these sides met Mount Burr took the win by two, 36-34.
This time round Hatherleigh will be looking to bounce back after being soundly defeated by Port MacDonnell last week 48-29, however they will absolutely have their hands full with the Mozzies who should be well rested after the bye.
Nangwarry v Tantanoola
The Saints will host the Tigers this weekend in what will ultimately result in another sizeable loss for the young Nangwarry side.
Tantanoola had a comprehensive victory over the Saints earlier this season, taking the win 89-16.
Tantanoola is coming off a loss to Kalangadoo last week, with the Tigers unable to repeat their earlier season defeat of the ladder leaders, while Nangwarry went down to Robe by 59.
The Tigers sit one game clear in third spot on the ladder, while the Saints have settled into bottom place.
One must give credit to the Nangwarry side, as their efforts never waiver despite the tough results they have faced this season.
The young players have given their all week in and week out, which is absolutely commendable in this day and age.
Kongorong has the bye.
