Elite netball showcase

Limestone Coast netball fans are in for a treat with Mount Gambier set to host a cross border netball challenge this weekend.

Netballers and sports lovers are being encouraged to attend the Border Challenge to experience elite netball, as Victoria’s State League Southern Saints take on South Australian State League side Garville.

The teams are using the challenge as a warm up match to prepare for their 2025 seasons.

Both clubs will have local stars from the Limestone Coast taking the court, with Jordyn Adams playing for the Saints and Lucy Denton representing Garville.

The local duo will be joined by several players who are on the lists of Suncorp Super Netball clubs and many who are State and National team representatives.

The challenge will feature four teams from each club ranging from under 17s to Premier

League, playing against each other.

Organisers are hopeful that in future years more clubs will take part, combining for a bigger tournament.

The showcase will be held on Saturday (February 1) at the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre.

The opening games will be played at 5pm, with court one hosting the state league division two clash, while court two will feature the under 17 match.

The second games will kick off at 6.30pm, with the state league division one match on court one, and the under 23 reserves game on court two.

There will also be opportunities to improve skills at a Super Netball Clinic on Sunday (February 2).

Players will be able to develop their skills, boost their game sense, grow in confidence and have fun.

All age groups are being invited to participate, from under 9 through to adult players.

The Border Challenge is offering players the chance to work alongside elite netball players and coaches, helping them take their game to the next level.

Whether you’re looking to refine your technique, build game sense, or increase your confidence, this clinic is for you.

The challenge will also feature a “Coach the Coaches” session, where coaches will be able to develop their read on the game, boost their playbook and work with some of the best in the game.

The session has been designed for coaches at all levels who want to improve their ability to analyse games, refine their training sessions, and add effective drills and strategies to their playbook.

Those taking part will be able to learn from a highly credentialled and proven team of experienced coaches, attendees will learn essential skills, tips, and game insights in various aspects of team management and development.
