Everyone and their dog now welcome

The Mount Gambier Hotel recently renovated their hotel rooms, which offer a touch of luxury and a comfortable stay in the heart of the city – for every man, woman and their dog.

The renovations came to life with the help of both local and Adelaide trades.

Venue Manager Belinda Crute said the hotel received a State Government Tourism Grant, which was invested towards the renovations.

The 16 new upstairs rooms include a standard queen, deluxe king, family suites with a kids-themed room and dog-friendly rooms.

A wheelchair-accessible room is also being created downstairs.

Ms Crute said the dog-friendly rooms had been booked out most nights.

The rooms were designed with four-legged friends in mind, including timber floors, extra cleaning procedures and a dog bed which matches the human bed.

Ms Crute described the rooms as “lush, modern, comfortable and warm” with a “‘home away from home” feel.

The décor is colour-coordinated with artwork by Pieter Zaadstra, which decorates the walls.

Each room includes a built-in desk, USB ports and bathroom mirrors with LED lighting and demisters.

Most bathrooms include a double-basin.

The minibars are stocked full of local produce including Dickins Delight Chocolate, Robe Town Pale Ale, Mike’s Beef Jerky, Digiorgio and Koonara Wines and South Australian Prohibition Gin and Tonic.

The large interactive televisions in each room use a “check-in and check-out” system, so guests can access their Netflix accounts when they check-in and their data is cleared from the system on check-out.

A room-service menu can also be viewed on the TV, along with a virtual Peter Zaardstra Art Gallery.

Ms Crute said the central location of the Mount Gambier Hotel makes the rooms a great place to stay, with shops, cafes and the Blue Lake in walking distance.
