The countdown is on to this year’s Mount Gambier Show, which is due to start at the end of next week.
Tickets to the anticipated family event are still available to purchase, with this year’s show set to look a little different.
Mount Gambier Agriculture and Horticultural Society president Danielle Tulak said organisers were working to tight guidelines to ensure the much-loved show could proceed.
“We know how much our community enjoys our annual show and we are doing our best to make sure it goes ahead while meeting the requirements of our COVID safe plan,” she said.
“We are so looking forward to actually being able to host a show this year, after having to cancel last year due to the pandemic.
“We cannot wait to see the smiles on the faces of everyone who comes along, it will be worth all of the hard work and effort.”
Mrs Tulak said, due to COVID restrictions, there will be three session times over the two-day event to ensure the maintenance of safe patron density requirements.
The session times available are Friday, October 22 10am-4pm, Saturday, October 23 9am-3pm and 4pm-10pm.
“When purchasing tickets, you will be required to select a session day and time.
“The ticket will only be valid for the session selected,” Mrs Tulak said.
“A non-refundable booking fee will apply to each purchase.
“Car parking is available for a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctors.
“At the end of each session security staff and COVID marshalls will clear the showgrounds of all patrons.
“Then the showgrounds will undergo a COVID deep clean routine before we start the next session.”
Mrs Tulak said the show society was in desperate need of more COVID marshalls.
“The Mount Gambier Show Society is seeking volunteers to act as COVID marshalls for this year’s event, as we need to make sure our show runs in a COVID safe manner,” she said.
“Each COVID Marshall will receive free entry to the show.”
