The Pioneers Basketball Club has announced yet another signing for the 2025 NBL1 South season.
Alex Mudronja is the first new face to join the Castec Rural Pioneers roster in 2025 and will join the club in Mount Gambier in late February for pre-season.
The 26-year spent three years at the Centre of Excellence, Australia’s elite pathway for junior talent based in Canberra, before heading abroad in the NCAA college system to St Mary’s College in 2018.
Following his return to Adelaide he spent 2020 and 2021 with the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL before being contracted to the Illawarra Hawks in 2022.
Since then Mudronja has spent three seasons in the NBL1 North conference with the North Gold Coast Seahawks and Southern Districts Spartans and last season played for the Cairns Marlins.
Most recently Mudronja completed a season with Sarawak CW playing in the Malaysian Basketball League.
He received league honours as a member of all second team of the league, averaging 19.1 points, 4.9 assists and 6.0 rebounds across 14 games.
Head Coach Richard Hill is pleased with his new signing.
“Alex is a talented South Australian guard who will bring leadership and experience to our roster,” he said.
The Castec Rural and OneFortyOne Pioneers pre-season begins early February in preparation for the 2025 season to start in late March.
Club memberships will be on sale soon with a number of fans being able to access pre-season games and tournaments located throughout the Limestone Coast in the lead up to the start of the 2025 season.
