‘Fair hike’ seen at bowsers

BP O’Leary Road fuel attendant Chris McCulloch has noticed an increase in fuel prices for customers locally.

Mr McCulloch said last week the price went up 10 cents a litre which was a “fair hike” for the service station.

“In the last fortnight petrol has gone up nearly 20 cents,” he said.

“Petrol was about 201 cents for premium U98 and now it is 217.9 here.

“Diesel has gone up a lot more than unleaded, there is a 26 cent price difference to two weeks ago.

“Diesel is now 225.9 whereas before it was around 200.”

Mount Gambier resident Tom Telford has certainly noticed the increase in prices, but reluctantly accepted the rising costs.

“It is what it is.

“Not much we can do about it,” he said.

“If we want to get around, we have to pay the price.”
