Familiar face to lead Millicent High School

A familiar face will take charge of Millicent High School at the start of 2022.

Current senior educator Todd Watson has been promoted to principal of the campus based on Mount Burr Road.

His initial appointment to the school several years ago was as a Health and Physical Education teacher and he later coordinated this department.

Mr Watson was then appointed as the senior school senior leader in 2016 when incumbent Andrew Stockley became principal of Penola High School.

In this current role, he oversees the year 11 and 12 students.

Away from school, Mr Watson has wide sporting interests including the Furner/Beachport Cricket Club.

He was the driving force behind the win of the Hatherleigh Reserves over Port MacDonnell in the Mid South Eastern Football League grand final at Tantanoola last month.

Mr Watson received The SE Voice trophy as best-on-ground from owner/editor Lechelle Earl.

He had won the Stan Jones Memorial Medal as best-afield in Hatherleigh’s A Grade last premiership win in 2013.

The Millicent High School vacancy arose when John Shelton decided not to seek an extension to his record 18-year tenure as principal.

MHS will become a years 7-12 school in 2022 in keeping with a state-wide change.
