Preparations are well under way for the annual Mount Gambier Community Christmas Day lunch which will be held at the Mount Gambier City Civic Centre on Christmas Day.
It will be the 12th year of the event which provides meals and festivities for isolated, disadvantaged and financially distressed members of the local community.
The food will be prepared by chef Cari Merrett and served by volunteers, who also help in the food preparation and clean up.
Last year 170 people attended, however due to the current economic conditions volunteers are expecting more families to attend this year.
As well as a three-course meal, participants will enjoy entertainment and receive gift bags.
Volunteers are asking the Limestone Coast community to again support in the collection of shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant for the gift bags.
Collection points are at the Mount Gambier Golf Club on Attamurra Road and Bendigo Bank on James Street.
Registrations to attend the lunch have opened with all details on the Mount Gambier Community Christmas Day lunch Facebook page with posters at various agencies.
