Alocal man has received an on the spot fine in the wake of a fire on Wednesday at Millicent.
Police will allege the 49-year-old man was using an angle grinder during the fire danger season without having water or an appropriate extinguisher at hand.
Emergency services were called to the Woodlands area of Millicent at 11.45am after reports that grass had been ignited by a spark.
It was a Total Fire Ban Day and a time of soaring temperatures.
Several fire appliances from the Millicent-based Woakwine CFS Group were mobilised as well as three water bombers and two spotter aircraft from Mount Gambier.
A total of eight drops were made by the water bombers and they were refilled by three CFS volunteers at the Millicent airport.
The water bombers were stood down at 12.45pm.
The grass fire generated a large amount of smoke and the CFS issued a warning to road users of the hazardous conditions.
Earlier in the day at 7.10am, the emergency services had been called to a two-vehicle collision at the T-junction of the Princes Highway and Agricultural Bureau Drive near the KCA Millicent Mill.
Police said the occupants suffered minor injuries.
