Firearm arrest in Millicent

Police have been investigating an incident that occurred earlier this month where a car deliberately crashed into another on Fifth Avenue at Millicent.

Following an investigation, police today searched a Millicent property where they located a firearm in the process of being made and ammunition along with two home made silencers. Several swords and homemade offensive weapons were also located.

Police searched a car parked outside the address and found three firearms in the footwell of the vehicle, a loaded sawn-off .22 calibre rifle, a home-made 410 shotgun and a home-made 12 gauge shot gun and ammunition.

A 45-year-old man from the address was arrested and charged with aggravated possessing a prescribed firearm, three counts of possessing a prescribed firearm, aggravated possessing a sound moderator and two counts of possessing a sound moderator.

He was refused bail and will appear in court tomorrow (Thursday 26 September).
