Firefighters honour their own

Compton CFS volunteers have been recognised at their brigade’s recent awards evening.

The awards were hosted at the Blue Lake Bar and Bistro.

The Captain’s Award was presented to Renee Ackerley, while Beth Warwick was named Firefighter of the Year.

Wayne Richardson received the award for most attendances across training and callouts, with a total of 48.

In a humorous award, Shaun Butterfield was given the Wood Duck Award for getting the TIC out at a job and being unable to get it to work.

He was then told to go back to the truck and get the battery to put in it.

In conjunction with the awards night, the brigade also held a fundraising night for its cadets program, raising $2265.
