Foreshore set to sparkle again on New Year’s Eve

Get ready to farewell 2024 in style with music, amusements, fireworks and more at the iconic New Year’s Eve by the Foreshore celebrations in Portland.

The annual festivities return to the Portland Foreshore from 6pm on December 31, offering free entertainment for the whole family.

The event kicks off with children’s entertainer Mr Happy, before up-and-coming youth performer Zoe Borthwick takes the stage for the start of the live music schedule.

Following Zoe, artists Aaron Morgan and Jayden Lillyst will perform before cover band ‘The Groovesmen’ offers a selection of much-loved classics. Finally, to herald in the New Year Seb Barras will perform a DJ set.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Karen Stephens said it promised to be an unforgettable evening of fun, food and entertainment along the picturesque foreshore.

“New Year’s Eve has become a much-loved tradition in council’s events calendar, bringing together our community to reflect on the past year and look forward to what’s ahead,” she said.

“It’s not just music that’s on offer – the first spectacular fireworks display will take place at the Northern Boat Ramp from 10pm, followed by a second dazzling display at midnight.

“There will be kids’ activities including inflatables and the annual Foreshore Carnival will return, ensuring there is entertainment for all members of the family.

“With live music, kids entertainment and an incredible fireworks display, it’s the perfect way to celebrate the New Year with family and friends in a vibrant atmosphere.”

Council is also supporting the New Year’s Eve at the Heywood Town Green, hosted by Promoting Heywood Committee.
