Former Defence Minister Christopher Pyne has been appointed as the Patron of the Robe 2 Recovery defence veterans support initiative.
In this capacity, Mr Pyne recently addressed a large gathering of veterans and supporters at the conclusion of the annual golf day at the Robe Golf Club.
Mr Pyne has been a frequent visitor to Robe over many years and bought a holiday house there in 2016.
He represented a suburban Adelaide seat in the House of Representatives between 1993 and 2019.
Meanwhile, Robe 2 Recovery coordinator Jacqui Bateman has hailed the weekend as a success.
“For the second year running, the community of Robe united as one to welcome and honour both veterans and current serving ADF personnel to our town to commemorate Anzac Day 2022,” Ms Bateman said.
“The Robe 2 Recovery crew, along with the Robe Football and Netball clubs and the Robe Golf Club, scheduled a weekend of events not to be missed.
“The Robe 2 Recovery board would like to sincerely thank the Team R2R volunteers, our generous sponsors, and the wonderful Robe community and businesses for their ongoing support of this very worthy cause.”
