A major make-over is currently under way at the iconic Bompa’s at Beachport hospitality and accommodation venue. The doors have been closed since the beginning of last month as skilled trades personnel have plied their crafts in most areas of the complex.
Passers-by would have seen a new floor and bar installed in the café and the area repainted. The kitchen has upgraded with new plumbing and wiring, while the seven guest rooms are all getting king-sized beds and new carpets.
A new management company headed by local Jeff Croser took over the management of Bompa’s on May 1. As general manager, Mr Croser will also have a role in the establishment and running of a new brewery nearby.
Overseeing the renovations at Bompa’s is new venue manager Jarrad Mutton who has prior experience of running the Mount Gambier Hotel and the Feathers Hotel in Adelaide. All going well, Mr Mutton hopes to have the doors reopened in mid-to-late July.
“We plan to have a family-friendly atmosphere while the courtyard restaurant will focus on local seafood, wine and other produce,” Mr Mutton said. “Hosting weddings and other functions are a priority. “We will trade seven days and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. “We have a five-year plan to continually upgrade Bompa’s.”
Bompa’s has been one of the landmark properties of the Beachport township since its erection as a hotel in 1878.
