The Limestone Coast Landscape Board has successfully been appointed as a regional delivery partner for the Federal Government.


The agreement includes an initial investment of approximately $2.5m into the Limestone Coast region until June 2028.


The Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) is the Federal Government’s primary investment platform for environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, and natural resource management. 


It provides opportunities for on-ground works across environmental and sustainable agriculture projects.


Limestone Coast Landscape Board Chair Dr Penny Schulz said collaborating with the government as a regional delivery partner was an exciting opportunity.


“The Natural Heritage Trust investment will increase local employment and provide opportunities to deliver on the regions and the LC Landscape Board’s priorities,” she said.


Acting Team Leader for Habitat Conservation Dr Robert Andrew said given successful projects supporting the Red-tailed black cockatoo and the Southern bent wing bat the region was sure to see increased benefits to the habitat of these threatened species.


“These projects fund important on-ground works such as increasing and protecting habitat to support threatened species in the Limestone Coast region,” he said.


“The Limestone Coast landscape provides habitat that is critical to the survival of these iconic species so we must work together to increase this across our region.


“These projects will have a large contribution of community involvement.
