A prominent Millicent fundraising event which was scheduled for last weekend was postponed on account of the statewide COVID lockdown. The Millicent Cancer Support Group was due to host its ever-popular Girls Day Out on Sunday.
It is a valuable money-spinner for the work of the support group as raffles are held and donated goods and services are auctioned and the group hopes to reschedule the event. “Our aim for the day was to enjoy each other’s company while having a beautiful meal, plus of course raise money for the group,” stated the MCSG on social media.
“We thank the Somerset Hotel for their assistance, a big thanks goes to all the wonderful businesses that have supported our day with donations and most importantly thank you to the beautiful ladies who had purchased a ticket. “Please all keep safe, remember to be thankful for the beautiful little community we live in and always be kind.”
The state-wide COVID lockdown led to other cancellations across Millicent and district including a quiz night at the Grand Hotel and an Umbrella Festival event at the War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre.
