The Limestone Coast is well represented in the AFL with plenty of home-grown players starring on the national stage.
The SE Voice’s sports journo Will Boston takes a look at how our locals fared in Round 4.
Jeremy Cameron
Jeremy Cameron had a respectable outing on Friday night as the Cats secured a big win over the Dees, finishing with 22 disposals, seven marks, two tackles and a goal.
Cameron wasn’t the best in front of goals, with five shots at goal and a 20% goal kicking accuracy.
However Jezza was heavily involved in the scoring, having a goal assist along with 10 score involvements and a score launch.
With the footy the Dart was solid as he had a season high 72.7% disposal efficiency.
Tonight Cameron and the Cats will have a tough match as they take on the Crows at Adelaide Oval to kick off Gather Round.
Brad Close
Brade Close had a solid game on Friday night against the Dees in Geelong recording 18 disposals, a season high six marks and nine kicks.
Despite not kicking a goal on Friday night, Close still helped the side get points on the board as he had 10 score involvements, two score launches and a goal assist.
This week Close will need to be at his best as the Cats take on the Crows.
Tom McDonald
Tom McDonald had his best game of the season on Friday night against the Cats.
McDonald had 17 disposals, 10 marks and three tackles.
As usual he was very good in defence with five spoils and six intercept marks.
Moving the footy, McDonald was very reliable with a 82.4% disposal efficiency and four rebound 50s.
It has been a rough start of the season for the Dees as they still search for their first win.
The Dees will have a good shot this week as they take on the Bombers on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval.
Jordan Dawson
Jordan Dawson still put together a solid performance on Saturday despite the tough result for the Crows as they took on the Suns in the Gold Coast.
Dawson finished with 31 disposals, five marks, six tackles and six clearances in the one point loss.
Like always the captain did a great job at helping the side get points on the board as he had a goal assist along with five score involvements and two score launches.
The former Robian was also very solid in the contest, having 11 contested possessions along with three intercept possessions.
The Crows will have another tough match tonight as they kick off Gather Round playing the Cats.
Mitch Hinge
Mitch Hinge had another great game on Saturday in the Crows’ clash with the Suns.
Hinge had a season high 27 disposals along with five marks, two tackles and 17 kicks.
Once again he was great at moving the footy, with a disposal efficiency of 74.1% he had five rebound 50s.
Up forward Hinge was also very solid, recording two goal assists as well as three score involvements.
Week after week Hinge always shows improvement and he will need to be at his best tonight in the Crows clash with the Cats.
Darcy Fogarty
Darcy Fogarty had another solid performance up forward for the Crows on Saturday.
Fogarty recorded 11 disposals, four marks, a tackle and three goals in the match.
In front of goals the Fog was amazing as he had a 100% shot at goal accuracy.
He also chipped in in other ways as he had a goal assist and four score involvements.
In the marking contest Fogarty was a major target in the forward line with three marks inside 50 as well as a contested mark.
Tonight Fogarty will have to be great in front of goals as the Crows take on the Cats.
Lachie Neale
Lachie Neale put together a great performance on Saturday against the Tigers at the G.
Neale had a season high 42 disposals as well as four tackles and seven clearances.
Like always the Kid from Kyby set up countless scores for his side in the match with a goal assist and nine score involvements as well as five score launches.
Neale was great around stoppages as he had five clearances from there with a solid disposal efficiency of 76.2%.
This week Neale and the Lions will be in SA as they take on the Bulldogs at Norwood Oval for the Gather Round.
