Generators yet to be called on

The diesel generator at Snuggery was taken out of mothballs due to forecast electricity shortfalls this summer.

However, it has yet to be required according to a spokesperson for owner French energy company Engie.

“The Snuggery Power Station has commitments to be available on standby during times of system stress and has undertaken several test runs to ensure it can best meet these obligations,” the spokesperson said.

The Princes Highway facility has three turbines which each generate 25 megawatts and are regarded as a back-up supply in times of blackouts.
