Grand final highs and lows experiences

Penola claimed the C Grade premiership in the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Netball Association grand final on Saturday.

The C Grade team was the only Eagles team to have success on the weekend, with the A Reserve and Division 2 sides narrowly losing their grand finals.

The C Grade side defeated Keith 42-29, with Penola’s Amanda Wurst named best on court in the grand final.

The game started with an even first quarter but Penola pulled away in the second term with great feeding into the goal ring and accurate shooting.

Penola kept up the pressure and increased their lead in the third.

Keith put in a hard last quarter but the damage was done, with Penola winning by 13.

In the A Reserve, Naracoorte defeated Penola 46-40, with Naracoorte’s Sally Logan named best on court.

The first half started very close with great pressure from both sides.

Naracoorte went into the third quarter up by five goals with their goalies shooting well.

Penola came out firing in the third quarter and managed to draw scores level at three quarter time.

However, Naracoorte applied more pressure in the goals and took the lead to win by six.

Naracoorte had a narrow victory over Penola in Division 2, winning 39-36, with Naracoorte’s Tahlia Maresch best on court.

Both teams came out strong and went goal for goal. Naracoorte’s goal accuracy and consistency through the mid court in the second and third quarter saw them gain a lead of four goals.

Although Penola fought hard and played with passion, Naracoorte took the win by three.
