The Limestone Coast landscape is in good hands when grassroots organisations and community groups seek investment in environmental and landscape management.


The Limestone Coast (LC) Landscape Board has invested over $1.25m over the past five years in grassroots projects. Focussing on local on-ground and practical activities the grants support landscape benefits for the region.


LC Landscape Board Chair Dr Penny Schulz said the program supports individuals, volunteers, schools and community organisations, First Nations and not-for profit groups working towards sustainable land management.


“Our Grassroots Grants funding program has seen some fantastic projects get off the ground,” she said.


“This year marks the fifth year of the program and it is important to recognise the significant financial investment the Grassroots Grant funding has had on the environment and land management practices across the region.


“Congratulations to the recipients of the 2024-25 round. We received some excellent submissions, highlighting innovative ideas to tackle environmental issues in the Limestone Coast.


“Empowering the community to sustainably manage our landscape in this challenging climate is important to the Limestone Coast Landscape Board, and we are thrilled to support projects that have a focus in this area.”


In 2024-25, 11 projects are sharing in just over $300,000 of funding awarded through the Grassroots Grants program.


Grant recipient and soil expert Felicity Turner said being awarded a Grassroots Grant from the Limestone Coast Landscape Board will be very beneficial.


“The grant will enable a series of workshops to empower land managers to make best practice nutrient decisions,” she said.


“Offering these workshops to the wider community will further support land management in the Limestone Coast region.”
