The Blue Lake Gymnastics Club is entering a promising new chapter with the appointment of Jayden Telford as its president.
Following nearly three decades of dedication to the community, the club faced concerns about its potential closure earlier this year, as reported by The SE Voice.
However, Mr Telford’s leadership brings with it a renewed sense of optimism and stability.
Mr Telford has a long-standing connection to the club, having grown up with it as his mother served on the board in the early 1990s.
Recently, he became more actively involved due to his stepdaughter’s participation in gymnastics.
Since officially taking the presidency in May, he has initiated several positive changes aimed at revitalising the club.
“Entry and exit are now streamlined through the front door, restoring a sense of normalcy,” Mr Telford said.
“The first week felt electric; parents were cheerful and the children were brimming with excitement.
“This positive atmosphere is essential for any club and reflects what an incorporated association should embody.”
Emphasising the importance of community, Mr Telford said members, participants and coaches were “the backbone of everything”.
“If we consistently meet their needs, the club will flourish,” he said.
“Our commitment lies in ensuring the sport remains alive in our town.
“It would be a disservice to close the doors on a club that has such an engaged membership and excellent facilities.”
The club’s head coach and manager Dani Atkinson also underscores the vibrant atmosphere since welcoming families back into the gym.
Having started her journey as a gymnast in the 1990s and evolving into a junior coach, Miss Atkinson brings years of experience and passion to her role.
“The energy has been overwhelmingly positive,” Miss Atkinson said.
“The children are thriving and the support of parents has made a significant difference.
“Our facility stands as one of the best in the state.”
As the club looks to the future, Miss Atkinson is optimistic about its potential.
“We have wonderful plans in place to expand our offerings,” she said.
“Our goal is to open the doors to more gymnasts and coaches and welcome them into our community.”
