There was an impressive response to the annual Wattle Range Council Photographic Exhibition with a record 475 entries.
The official opening on Sunday at the Millicent Gallery attracted 60 exhibitors and other interested persons.
There was a strong representation from the Limestone Coast Camera Club and the Captured Images Naracoorte Camera Club.
Millicent Library and Gallery Manager Janice Nitschke introduced Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll who presented the Acknowledgement of Country.
Ms Nitschke also welcomed visiting Adelaide judge Keith Seidel from the South Australian Photographic Federation.
He presented the certificates and spoke briefly about the winning entries in the 11 categories.
“There were 10 different winners and so I got my judging right,” he said.
Sponsored by Trusted Automotive, there was a new category which focussed on transport and vehicles.
Offering almost $5000 in total prizemoney, the competition began around 14 years ago as a way of sourcing photographs for the annual council calendar.
All winning entries were displayed in frames and hung in a new exhibition space which was formerly the Children’s Library.
Cash prizes were given to category winners and to placegetters and certificates to merit winners.
Following the photographic exhibition formalities, the latest exhibition by Robe artist Jo Jo Spook was opened in the adjacent Millicent Gallery.
There are 98 exhibits in A Different View and all are for sale.
