Health concerns raised

The adequacy of local health services has recently been brought to the attention of Member for MacKillop Nick McBride by the Millicent And Surrounds Health Support Group.

He was lobbied in person by MASH group chairman Trevor Sinclair and secretary Ron Wood.

“We talked through a number of topics including community concerns with the difficulty booking doctor’s appointments at our local clinic,” they said.

“We understand the issue is a long-standing situation caused by a lack of qualified doctors choosing to enter regional practice across Australia.

“Mr McBride took interest in our involvement with the implementation of the Millicent and District Hospital and Health Service plan and the implementation update that was issued last December.

“We brought to his attention the issue of the Millicent Health Advisory Council as well as our group MASH group having difficulty attracting new members.”

Meanwhile, the MASH group was addressed at its recent monthly meeting by Annie Bell who is the president of the Wattle Range Hospital Auxiliary.
