Health network in need of new volunteers

The Friends of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Incorporated (Friends) is seeking new volunteers to support the Women’s and Children’s Health Network.

Network chief executive Lindsey Gough said it was great to see the continuing partnership between the health network and the Friends group.

“This partnership has existed for almost 60 years and we appreciate all the work the Friends do that supports the purchases of important medical equipment,” Ms Gough said.

Friends are recruiting country member volunteers to support its Auxiliaries Division which has 25 regional fundraising groups across South Australia.

Friends business manager Andrew Wade said the group was in urgent need of volunteers.

“The Auxiliaries Division has raised more than $4m for the WCHN in its time which shows how important these volunteers are,” Mr Wade said.

“If you are interested in fundraising for a worthy cause, meeting new friends and supporting the community you live in, connecting with Friends might be just what you need.”

Friends was established in 1993 and over the years, the charity has raised and donated more than $15m to the WCHN.

With the help of its volunteers, Friends recently purchased 30 additional hearing audiometers which have helped to improve the lives of South Australians and reduced the need for regional families to travel to the hospital to have their child’s hearing checked.
