Health plan ‘inaction’

Ahealth lobby group claims there has been inaction on the delivery of the Millicent Hospital Services Plan.

The claim has been made on a social media by the Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group.

According to the MASH Group, the Millicent District Hospital Health Services Plan (2020-2023) was created with community consultation to enhance healthcare in the local community.

“The Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN) promised stronger, more accessible healthcare – but where’s the progress?” states the MASH Group Facebook post.

“While the COVID delays were understandable, at our 2024 annual general meeting, LCLHN chief executive Emma Poland advised the plan’s timeline has been pushed back again!

“It’s now part of a larger LCLHN strategy, with a new release date of July 2025.

“More consultation required.

“Our community deserves an actionable healthcare strategy.

“We’ll continue pushing for real progress, not just empty promises and endless delays.

“Stay informed, get involved, and let’s make sure this plan becomes a reality.

“Join us and let’s fight for the healthcare our community deserves!”

The SE Voice has provided a copy of the MASH Group statement to the SA Health Media unit and sought a response.

Ms Poland said in a statement that she would be meeting with the MASH Group.

“We will discuss the (Millicent) plan’s progress, its achievements to date and future planning for the service,” Ms Poland said.

“We have also commenced consultation on our first region-wide Clinical Services Plan and we will provide the community a chance to provide feedback on this.”

The February meeting of Wattle Range Council heard that Ms Poland has recently met with Mayor Des Noll and chief executive Ben Gower.

A further meeting will involve Ms Poland, Councillor David Walshaw and council audit committee chairman Michael Schultz.
