The South East Arts Society is celebrating the life, work and local connections of Adam Lindsay Gordon this month with a special members-only exhibition at Mount Gambier’s Old Courthouse.
Society members have been invited to create a work that either responds specifically to Adam Lindsay Gordon in some way or celebrates the local history of the region more broadly through its people, places and events.
The special exhibition will be launched tomorrow evening, with special guests from the National Trust in attendance, before being opened to the public on Saturday.
There will be cash prizes for winners in the Adam Lindsay Gordon Art Award and the Local History Art Award.
South East Arts Society President Vicky Thorpe sid winners of the two award categories will be announced at the launch event, with the exhibition to remain open to the public until November 12.
“The South East Arts Society works tirelessly behind the scenes to create opportunities for local artists to share their work and the Adam Lindsay Gordon is another wonderful opportunity for local artists to get creative and for audiences to see the wonderful talent we have right here,” she said.
“There are two categories with cash prizes to be won and we hope to see a wide range of entries.”
