The final service of Saint Paul’s Anglican Church at Port MacDonnell was held on Saturday.
The 125-year-old stone building was de-consecrated and closed.
The service was led by the Bishop of The Murray Keith Dalby and he was assisted by Mount Gambier parish priest Father Neil Fernando.
Due to declining attendances, regular services have not been held at the seaside church in recent years.
The foundation stone of Saint Thomas had been laid on September 10, 1896 by Thomas Edwards, of Mount Schank.
The then Bishop of Adelaide, the Right Reverend John Harmer dedicated the church a few months later on January 27, 1897.
The remaining churches at Port MacDonnell are the Catholic and Uniting denominations.
