Hobitz dominate scorching battle

Round 2 – Hobitz 89 d Intruders 32


Under intense heat, Hobitz delivered a commanding performance against Intruders, securing a decisive 89-32 victory in the Mount Gambier Netball Association A Grade.


Despite the challenging conditions, both teams displayed resilience and skill in a highly competitive match.


From the outset, Hobitz asserted their dominance, converting quick goals and limiting Intruders’ scoring attempts.


Hobitz goal defence Chelsea Hara played a pivotal role, seamlessly collecting rebounds and driving the ball down the court with precision.


The Intruders’ midcourt worked tirelessly to capitalise on any errors, while backing themselves to take risks and displaying some impressive passages of play.


The second quarter saw some changes for both teams, with Hobitz wing attack Lilly Oakley demonstrating great patience and composure in delivering the ball into the goal circle.


The work rate from Intruders did not waver, with midcourter Amy Bignell providing steady guidance to keep to her team focused and maintaining pressure across the court.


Intruders goal attack Tash Moreland continued her fearless approach, confidently attempting long goals with increasing accuracy.


Hobitz were clinical however, adding another 19 goals to their first quarter total and finishing the half ahead, 37-15.


Defensive pressure from both teams intensified in the third quarter, forcing errors and creating scoring opportunities for attackers.


Intruders centre MacKenzie Millard worked hard from end to end, reading the play well and creating connections.


The relentless heat began to take its toll however, slowing the overall pace of play.


Hobitz goal attack Jordi Gower stood out with her consistency and accuracy, proving her reliability under demanding conditions.


Rotations among players were frequent towards the end of the quarter, as both teams sought to maintain energy and adapt to the challenges.


The final quarter saw Hobitz unleash an unstoppable goal blitz, adding an astounding 32 goals to their tally compared to Intruders’ seven.


Hobitz’s cohesive teamwork and tactical execution was decisive across all thirds.


Although Intruders regained their connections midway through the quarter, their efforts were not enough to bridge the gap.


Hobitz showcased their dominance with a strong finish, leaving no room for doubt about their intentions for the season.


The final score had Hobitz up 89-32, with best players for Hobitz were Demi Hoffmeister and Suzanne Crowe, and for Intruders it was Amy Bignell and Jasmine Reed.
