Home town pride on line in festival of cricket showdown

The Mount Gambier representative team will play its second game in the KFC Festival of Cricket at Frew Park this Sunday.

Back in early November the side played their first match of the competition, taking on South West in Hamilton and came away with a very convincing win where they made 261 runs in 50 overs while holding South West to only 149 runs.

After that big win Mount Gambier currently sits first on the ladder.

This Sunday the representative team will be facing Warrnambool Moyne which currently sits second.

Rep team captain Alex Hentechke said the side is looking good ahead of the upcoming match.

“We should go well, it’s a strong side with four changes to the side that took on South West a few weeks ago,” he said.

Hentschke has his eye on a few players to have a standout performance.

“There is plenty of potential for standout games, Jack Mullan has been in form with the bat and our spin options of Ben Hentschke, Emerson Marks and Elliott Fisher will be a handful with the ball,” he said.

The match starts at 10.30am at Frew Park.
